The story of Trio Fine Art begins with a single local artist who hung a shingle. Painter, Molly Martin,
opened this combined gallery and studio space in 2004 as a way to show her work and meet collectors.
In 2005 Molly learned she was expecting her first child, Fiona, and she knew she needed to call in
reinforcements! This is when friends and fellow-painters, September Vhay and Kathryn Mapes Turner
joined. After an expansion of the original space and a complete renovation, the Gallery, Trio Fine Art
opened its doors with a reception that packed the house! In the fall of 2006, Molly left the gallery
effort to focus on raising her beautiful young family which brought painter Lee Carlman Riddell into the
partnership. Lee’s previous business experience as an owner of a very successful advertising agency and
her innate talent as an artist made her a natural fit.
As time passed, Trio gained a celebrated reputation as one of the freshest, vibrant galleries in Jackson
where collectors could not only find top quality original art, but also meet the artists that created it. A
community has grown up around the gallery that consists of collectors, friends, fellow artists who come
to exchange ideas, as well as plenty of dog visitors, and inquisitive children.
In 2011 another highly praised artist joined the collaboration at Trio Fine Art. In February, Jennifer
Hoffman presented her exquisite pastels and oil paintings to an eager crowd of collectors with an
inaugural show.
This group of now four artists continue in the spirit of Trio original partnership where the artist owners
work together to promote the fullest creative potential of one another and then to share their work
with the community.
